The local seed vault
Seeds may be likened to the code or microchips of natural life. The botanical realm is a source of nutrition, medicine, and a frame for human life and culture that develops around plants. In many countries worldwide, seed vaults have been established with the aim of preserving plant life in event of widespread disaster. These vaults act as capsules which, similarly to the biblical ark, protect the promise of human survival within.
This work features a collection of seeds from plants that embody certain symbolic values that tell the story of our society. Do we, the local inhabitants, reflect the values projected out to us from the landscape and plant life all around?
