Preserving The Ephemeral

This project studies the documentation of the structures that comprise local and imported flora – specifically flowers with an internal space, which provides shelter for various pollinators.
The documentation of these flowers takes place utilizing two techniques of analogous reproduction: patterning & casting, and pattern deployment.
These methods make it possible for the flower’s shape, with its fragility and temporary nature, to be preserved while allowing for rescaling in print. As opposed to a world that is gradually gravitating away from nature and substantive matter, this project aims to create a bank of non-digital, material knowledge, while providing structural information that encapsulates the cycle of nature and the ephemeral.
