Flags Earrings

‘Flags Earrings’ is a series of works born in the ongoing Instagram project @earring.today.

The Israeli flag, which in 2023 became a symbol of resistance to the government and its attempts to implement judicial reform, serves as the series’ formative theoretical basis. It all began with a wearable, miniature Israel flag, an idea that developed and changed until, following the events of Oct. 7th, it became a platform for the expression of personal thoughts and experiences in the social-cultural present. The flags are hand-embroidered, using a slow, taxing, albeit therapeutic process, thus defying the maniacal pace of life and state of reality around us, which has swerved well out of control, and is run by extremists and computer algorithms – with the aim of controlling and shaping human behavior, while realizing narrow, destructive interests. The earrings are all wearable and designed for casual use.
