Alpaim (‘Two Thousand’)
In the biblical ark story, hopes of a new home followed mankind as we packed our valuable belongings and set sail. In Greek mythology, Pandora’s curiosity leads her to open a box full of curses, unleashing them upon the world – only to leave hope locked inside, until it is ultimately released as well.
‘Alpaim’ is an installation of hope. The same hope that has carried us through two thousand years and left us here, on the ark. The dove at the center of this piece goes through a cycle of filling and emptying out, akin to the sense of hope in the ark.
