The final filling of the day
A piece of woven fabric can serve as a journal for the weaver, with the warp threads acting as the pages, and the weft threads embodying the literal content. A weave is composed of two essential elements: the warp, or parallel, horizontal threads placed upon the loom, which serve as a given, predetermined base – which cannot be altered during the process and will carry us through to the end; and the weft, woven into the warp to form the unified fabric, which is controlled and maneuvered throughout the weaving action, symbolizing the constant changes we encounter in daily life.
In this performative installation, a weaving artist incorporates a weft chosen spontaneously by viewers into the fixed and predetermined warp, with each thread representing a certain idea or feeling.
As twilight falls, a complete, woven journal emerges – displaying a documentation of the choices made throughout the day, and expressing them in color.
