A Parallel Universe
This body of work was created as an expansion of Gueta’s exhibition featured at the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History, National Center for Biodiversity Studies at Tel Aviv University. It is a contemplation on the fragile, complex beauty of marine wildlife – a hidden, mysterious world parallel to ours. ‘A Parallel Universe’ echoes the grave importance and singularity of coral reefs, while discussing processes of life and its formation in the face of existential danger.
The combination of materials and interplay between light and shadow help create an alternate dimension, one that concurrently contains both chaos and a poetic silence. Gueta’s work invites viewers into an intimate space, while slowing the pace down to a crawl – like a dive into the depths, that allows us to observe, to discover and reconnect to ourselves, while exploring our perception of the natural world around us, of material and form.
