The Museum for Islamic Art: Exhibition, dialogue, guided tours

22.9, Sunday

17:00

2 Hapalmach st. Jerusalem

The Museum for Islamic Art presents an intimate exhibition, created especially for the Jerusalem Design Week. The exhibition features rare chests and arks from the museum’s collection alongside contemporary pieces, raising questions around issues such as value, craftsmanship, technology and functionality. Many of the chests held in the museum’s collections are rare, desirable items, often valued higher than the objects originally contained within them.

Sunday, Sept. 22nd, 5pm
“On Then and Now – Chests and Design” – A fascinating discussion between industrial designer Prof. Dov Ganchrow and Jenya Frumin, on the subject of chests and their role throughout history, to this day.

Mon-Thurs, Sept. 23rd-26th, 5pm
Guided tours of the exhibition – From the tale of Drab and the chest, through the secret chests of the ancient world, treasure chests, play chests and more.

Coast to Coast Daily cultural excursions traveling between Hansen House and points all around Jerusalem

JDW 2024 revolves around the theme of “the ark”, choosing to look out from upon the deck and gaze off into the horizon. Jerusalem’s red bus will set sail daily, traveling between unique events at a wide range of cultural venues across town, and connecting them to the central design event at Hansen House. This year, JDW is launching a series of events that link the city’s varied cultural institutions to the festival’s content – unique tours, workshops, family-oriented events, encounters with artists and designers, musical events, and more.
